Cheryl Adams

Cloud Data Architect

Cheryl has always been a tinker. She grew up spending a lot of time with her father, who was a mechanic. She always wondered how things worked and how to fix them when they didn’t. She satisfied this curiosity by taking things apart and putting them back together. Often times this exploration method wasn’t as successful as she hoped, much to her parents dismay.

This curiosity of wondering how things work lead her to the path of technology, where she continued to use a method, commonly referred to as ‘reverse engineering’ to see how things worked through discovery and development.

Her interest in technology continue to grow. Her self-taught path first lead her to attending a local Jr. College to obtain an Associate Degree in Computer Science. She opted for real world experience before finishing up her Bachelors of Science in Business and Information Systems while working as an Implementation Specialist for Oracle and attending school part-time.

Cheryl has worked for corporations, startups, and co-authored her first book entitled The Hadoop Professional. She has been a featured content writer, working directly with CBS Interactive, and has been interviewed in several webcasts as a SME in her field.

Now as an independent consultant and data implementer for the last fifteen years, she considers herself a forever student, working with the latest in cloud technologies. She continues to study and obtain certificates based on various fields of technology. She maintains her own cloud and web based environments so she can spin up any open source technology and see it live. She is always open to share in a technical discussion about what’s going on in the field of technology.
