Media Accessibility for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People

GSB 125

Even though, the Internet seems to be visual, and accessible to Deaf/HoH people in fact, it is not. The more un-captioned video content makes to the Web, the less it is getting accessible. The ultimate goal of the proposed talk is to convince people to take the captioning seriously, and benefit not only people with hearing disabilities, but also people whose first language is not English. Captioning/transcribing the content also is beneficial in many other aspects, such as Search Engine Optimization.
