Building Yourself in a Tech-Centered World

There may be increasing dialogue for women of color in tech, but the marginalization and lack of social support still imposes harmful stress on our lives. Before joining the tech industry, I researched stigma for nearly a decade never expecting that I’d need to transfer my learnings into a sector that values forward-thinking. What I know is the type of social exclusion women of color experience in tech is enough to disempower us, reduce our belief in ourselves, and increase the stress that interferes with our ability to thrive. During this talk, I’ll share how we can collectively work to increase culturally-sensitive social support, policy change, and create space for us to grow.
